Miniature Painting Competition
– In Commemoration of the 700th Anniversary of the Conquest of Bursa –
The aim of the competition is
to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the conquest of Bursa, a historical event that changed Turkish and world history, from various perspectives, thereby raising public awareness of this significant historical occurrence. Therefore, the competition aims to depict the conquest of Bursa, both its material and spiritual aspects, through the colorful lens of miniature art.
The competition’s theme is
“The Conquest of Bursa: Its Material and Spiritual Aspects.”

Second Prize: 60,000 TL,
Third Prize: 40,000 TL,
Encouragement Prize: 20,000 TL (for 3 works)

Competition Rules
– Each participant may submit a maximum of 1 (one) work to the competition.
– The work must be in accordance with the technique, materials, and style of classical miniature art. Miniatures must be created on suitable paper used in traditional arts.
– The works must be on 35×50 cm paper, and the miniature area must fill approximately 70% of the paper size.
– Works must be submitted without frames or mats.
– The competition is open to participants of all educational levels who have reached the age of eighteen by the application date.
– Citizens of the Republic of Turkey and foreign nationals may apply to the competition. Applications can also be made from within Turkey and abroad.
– Employees of Yıldırım Municipality and their immediate family members, as well as members of the Selection Committee and their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate in the competition
. – The participant acknowledges, declares, and undertakes that the work submitted to the competition is entirely their own. The legal responsibility for any copyright infringement that may arise if the work belongs to someone else rests with the participant. If it is determined that a participant who has received an award has acted contrary to these declarations and acceptances, their award, title, and achievements will be revoked. This does not mean that the ranking of other contestants will change.
– Original works submitted to the competition must not have been previously published anywhere in print or digital format, shared on social media, exhibited, or participated in any other competition. Otherwise, even if the work receives an award, the award will be canceled, and the Selection Committee may substitute another work in place of the canceled work or cancel the award entirely.
– No identifying symbols such as names, signatures, seals, etc., will be present on the works submitted to the competition. A pseudonym consisting of three letters and four numbers will be written on the back of the work by the participant using a ballpoint pen.
– The participant must place a sheet of paper containing their name, surname, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, and at least one paragraph describing what their miniature depicts in an envelope, and write their chosen pseudonym on the envelope with a ballpoint pen. This envelope must be submitted along with the work submitted to the competition.
– Entries to be submitted for evaluation by the Selection Committee must be signed with a wet signature (with full name written in the lower right corner of both pages of this Specification, available on the Yıldırım Municipality website) in an envelope along with the work and CV, and sent by courier or delivered in person between 10:00 and 18:00 on weekdays to the address specified in the “work submission address” section by March 13, 2026. The author is responsible for any damage or delay caused by the courier, and such works will not be considered for evaluation.
– Yıldırım Municipality reserves the right to make changes to the competition conditions, postpone it, or cancel it.
Submission and Delivery of Artwork
– Works to be submitted for evaluation by the Selection Committee must be delivered by courier or in person between 10:00 and 18:00 on weekdays to the delivery address specified in the “artwork delivery address” section below, by March 13, 2026.
– Works deemed unsuitable for exhibition must be collected by the artist or their authorized representative, against signature, from the same address within one month of the announcement of the results, between 10:00 and 18:00 on weekdays.
– The Municipality is not responsible for uncollected works. Uncollected works will be recorded in the Municipality’s archives. Requests for return of works by courier will not be accepted.
Other Provisions
– Yıldırım Municipality reserves the right to use the images of the submitted works, information about the works and the artists, in printed materials such as books, catalogs, brochures, posters, etc., directly or indirectly related to the competition, regardless of whether the work wins an award or not, as well as in promotional activities on its website, social media, internet, and in the press. No copyright fee will be paid to the author for this.
– Yıldırım Municipality has the right to exhibit the submitted works, their images, and related information, regardless of whether they win an award or not.
– The winning works (first, second, third, 3 encouragement awards, and 10 exhibition awards) will remain in the Yıldırım Municipality Collection. Authors of winning works may use photographs/scans of their works in their own digital and printed works 10 years after the award ceremony date. However, they cannot transfer this right to a third party, whether natural or legal person.
– Authors who submit works to the competition are deemed to have read and accepted the provisions of this document.
