About the Competition
Held in Gran Canaria, Spain, ANIMAYO Gran Canaria 2027 is an international festival dedicated to animation, visual effects, and video games. The ANIMAYO 2027 International Poster Competition invites artists and designers worldwide to create the official visual identity for the festival’s 22nd edition.
The winning design will become the festival’s official poster and may be featured across its promotional and communication materials.
Theme
The poster should explore the world of ideas and creativity, with a focus on:
- Inspiration
- Fantasy and imagination
- Technology
- Creativity and innovation
Participants may use drawing, photography, illustration, 3D design, collage, or any other artistic technique, provided that the work is original.
Who Can Enter?
- The competition is open to participants of any nationality and country of residence.
- Entrants must be at least 16 years old.
- Entries may be submitted individually or by teams of up to five people.
- For entrants aged 16 or 17, a parent or legal guardian must complete the registration and accept the competition rules.
- Each participant or team may submit up to five different poster designs.
- Employees of the organizer and its affiliated companies, specified close relatives, and members of this edition’s jury or selection committee are not eligible.
Poster Design Requirements
1. Two formats are required.
Each design must be prepared in both of the following formats:
- Vertical: 50 × 70 cm
- Horizontal: 100 × 50 cm
Both versions must be prepared at 300 dpi. Because the two formats have different proportions, simply cropping the same image is not sufficient. The composition must be adapted to work in each format.
2. Required text
The poster must include the following wording:
- Animayo Gran Canaria 2027 — in a larger font size.
- 22ª Summit and International Film Festival of Animation, Visual Effects and Video Games — in a smaller font size.
Both lines must form an integral part of the design.
3. Reserve space for logos.
The bottom 15% of the poster’s height must remain free of essential design elements in both formats. This area is reserved for sponsor and institutional logos.
4. Do not include festival dates or venues.
The organizer will add the festival dates and venue information later. These details must not appear in the submitted design.
5. Generative AI is prohibited.
Images, illustrations, backgrounds, textures, or compositions generated wholly or partially with generative AI are not accepted. Technical editing tools that do not create new visual content—such as cropping, color correction, resizing, and noise reduction—are permitted.
The organizer may request sketches, editable layers, source files, or other materials to verify human authorship.
Registration and Submission
The submission process has two steps:
- Complete the registration form on the official Animayo website.
- Email both the vertical and horizontal versions of the poster in JPG or PDF format, using RGB color mode. The combined file size must not exceed 2 MB.

Use the subject line “Concurso de Carteles 2027,” followed by the participant’s name and the title of the work.
Each design must include a short explanation of at least five lines describing the concept behind the poster.
Registration through the official online form is mandatory. Designs submitted only by email without prior registration will not be accepted.
Entries must be original, unpublished, and must not have won another competition. Designs submitted to previous editions of the Animayo poster competition may not be resubmitted.
Preselected entrants will have five calendar days from notification to provide editable source files and a large-format adaptation.
Prizes
First Prize: €500 gross
The winning design will become the official poster for ANIMAYO Gran Canaria 2027. It may be used in outdoor advertising, printed posters, festival programs, tickets, the website, social media, press materials, and other promotional formats.
The organizer may also award an optional second prize of €250 gross.
The winner and, if applicable, the runner-up will receive a certificate and promotional exposure through the festival’s website, social media channels, and press materials.
At least 15 designs are expected to be preselected. Finalist posters may also be exhibited during the festival.

- Preselection notifications: By January 22, 2027
- Finalists announced: By February 5, 2027
- Winner announced: By February 19, 2027
- Festival dates: May 5–8, 2027
For applicants in Türkiye, the deadline corresponds to January 1, 2027, at 2:59 a.m. Türkiye time. Submitting well before the deadline is recommended.
Copyright and Usage Rights
Please review the copyright terms carefully before entering.
- The winner grants the organizer exclusive, worldwide exploitation rights to the winning design for the maximum period permitted by law. These rights include reproduction, distribution, public communication, and adaptations required for the festival’s promotional uses.
- The author’s moral rights remain protected. The organizer will credit the artist whenever the medium allows.
- Non-winning finalists grant the organizer a non-exclusive, perpetual right to display their posters, with attribution, on the festival website, social media, in exhibitions, press materials, and the festival’s historical archive. Finalists retain ownership and other exploitation rights to their work.
