AMERICAN TURKISH WOMEN’S UNION APRIL 23 NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY AND CHILDREN’S DAY & UNESCO WORLD ART DAY 4TH PAINTING COMPETITION 2025 ( USA AND CANADA WIDE )
1. COMPETITION SPECIFICATIONS:
The fact that the Founder of the Republic of Turkey, the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, dedicated April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day to our children, the guarantor of our future, reminds us once again of our responsibilities. In order to contribute to UNESCO World Art Day, a painting competition on Climate Action is being organized by the American Turkish Women’s Union (ATKB), a member of the United Nations Global Communications Division (UNDGC), and the New York Atatürk School.
The competition aims to bring to the present day Atatürk’s words symbolizing peace, equality and a future in harmony with nature by drawing attention to the 13th article of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, “Climate Action”. Atatürk’s important words such as “Peace at Home, Peace in the World ”, “ Protecting nature is protecting the future ”, “ The nature of tomorrow is created today ”, “ Trees, flowers and greenery mean civilization ” will be combined with a global vision through art and will be reflected with the creativity of young participants.
The aim of the competition is to enable young minds to express these words and Sustainable Development Goal 13 through art with their bright ideas. Participants are expected to create works that aim to combat climate change, protect natural resources and raise awareness about sustainable environmental policies. Thus, the competition aims to create not only an art competition but also a global call and inspire for a sustainable world.
The works submitted to the competition will be rich in color, composition and expression, as well as carrying a strong message towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially the “Climate Action” goal. In this way, participants will have the opportunity to make their voices heard by a worldwide art community.
The competition is organized for children aged 6-14 living in the United States and Canada. Judging will be done in three different age groups: 6-8 years old, 9-11 years old and 12-14 years old. The competition will be run by ATKB and New York Atatürk School.
Ataturk saw peace as the foundation of everything. If we protect nature and work together against climate change, we will bring peace not only to people but also to our world. Become an ambassador of peace !
