NASA SPACE SPACE ART (PAINTING) COMPETITION 2024 OCTOBER ANNOUNCEMENT NASA’S ART COMPETITION ANNOUNCEMENT IS AS FOLLOWS.
Do you love making art and using your imagination? We love it too! Every NASA mission starts with a creative idea of discovering something in a new way.
Art challenge:
In this new activity, we want to invite young explorers to think and draw about a space-related situation every month. And after the month is over, we’ll select a few creative drawings to be published on the NASA Space Place website!
So get ready to exercise your creative brain! Here’s what you’ll need:
Paper
Art supplies (pens, markers, paints, paints – whatever you want to use)
An adult helper with a camera or scanner and access to email
Note: We can’t accept artwork created with AI technologies.
Space Place art contest topic:
More than 500 million miles from Earth, there is an ocean-covered world covered in an icy crust. This ocean world, called Europa, is one of Jupiter’s many moons. Scientists are interested in learning more about Europa because you can find life on Earth, where water is present. Could the ocean-covered Europa also have all the right conditions and ingredients for life?

NASA scientists hope to find out one day soon! The Europa Clipper is a spacecraft that will study Europa. It will be launched in October 2024.
What it’s about: Europa Clipper will orbit Jupiter’s icy moon Europa and collect a wealth of information about this particular ocean world in our solar system. But imagine being able to look beneath Europa’s icy surface. What do you think you can find in the vast ocean underneath? What does the ocean floor look like? Does anything live in Europa’s ocean? At the moment, no one knows for sure! Draw the underwater scene of the ocean on Europa and you think what we can find there!
Want to know more about Europa before you get started? Check out our Europa page!
Get creative and submit your art before October 31, 2024. Selected artworks will be published on the website at the beginning of November!
How to submit your art:
Once you’ve placed your ideas on the page, ask an adult to take a photo or scan of the drawing and email the following to NASAKidsArt@jpl.nasa.gov:
Drawing picture
Artist’s name
Artist’s age
Completed release form (download here)*
That’s it! Have fun creating and we can’t wait to see your drawings!
