SILENT MANGA AUDITION (SMA) is the world’s largest manga audition® exclusively for manga without dialogue. By drawing silent manga, talented international creators can also get the opportunity to participate in the Japanese manga world. Make your way to your dream exit by drawing your characters’ expressions full of emotion and heart!
Silent Manga Selection Contest 2025 : Manga is organized by Japanese publisher Coamix Inc. The Silent Manga Selection Contest 2025 invites all manga creators to submit their best creations, this time with the theme of “Arrested in Anger”.
This contest is open to everyone worldwide.
A Silent Manga is a visual narrative told without dialogue, that relies entirely on illustration alone. You may, however, make use of onomatopoeia by incorporating SFX into your art.
The page count for a single SMA entry is 17 pages or less. (The page count may change depending on the round so please be sure to always check the current round announcement page)
Dialogue: the use of dialogue to tell the story is strictly forbidden in SMA.
Copyright infringement: using copyrighted characters or imagery.
Distributing / uploading your ENTIRE entry to social media and other channels if you win an SMA award. However, uploading or distributing a PREVIEW of your entry is acceptable, and it is also acceptable to upload or distribute your entire entry if you do not receive an SMA award. If you receive an SMA award, your entry will be legally owned by COAMIX Inc., meaning you will not be able to sell or distribute your entry to any third party

Grand Prix: 500,000 YEN
Grand Prix Runner-up: 300,000 YEN
Excellence Award: 100,000 YEN
Excellence Runner-up: 30,000 YEN
Honorable Mention: 10,000 YEN
Special prizes include merchandise for selected participants. All participants receive professional editorial feedback and a 3-month free trial of Clip Studio Paint EX.
Winners also get the opportunity to collaborate with professional editors and potentially publish their work in Monthly Comic ZENON, a leading manga magazine.
