KADOKAWA Wordless World Manga Contest 2025
KADOKAWA is pleased to announce the opening of the “Wordless World Manga Competition”. Normally there are speech bubbles in manga, but for this Competition, So manga without speech bubbles or letters It is ensured that everyone can apply without any language barrier.
1.Themed Manga Award
Works based on the assigned theme can apply.
Please create a work with the story of “Don Quixote.”
Alonso Quijano is an old knight living in the Spanish countryside. Enthralled by old chivalric tales, he decides to embark on an adventure to right the wrongs of the world as the itinerant knight Don Quixote. He sets out with his neighbor Sancho Panza as his traveling companion. Don Quixote seems to confuse fantasy with reality; for example, he thinks windmills are giants and fights them. People around him laugh at his eccentricities, but he never gives up hope….
- *You may create the rest of the story in your own way.
- *You do not necessarily have to follow the above synopsis. You may depict the entire story of the original “Don Quixote” or excerpt some scenes from it.
- *You may also alter the story in any way you like.
- *You may change the setting as you like (different period, different country, different universe, etc.)
2. Original Manga Award
Any story can apply.
Action, comedy, romance, horror… any genre is accepted as long as it’s a “wordless manga!” Please show your ideas and what you want to express in your manga work.

Application Rules
- Number of pages 8 pages – 60 pages
- The paper size Around H257xW182mm / H3541 x W2508pixel
- Resolution At least 350dpi
●Both monochrome and colored works will be accepted.
●Please use binary image in case of monochrome works. Grayscale and progressive JPEGs will not be accepted.
●In case of colored works, images must be saved with sRGB color profiles embedded.
●Please convert each page layer to the integrated JPG format or PNG format, and compress it to ZIP format.
●Please name the file “(work name in lowercase alphanumeric characters).zip”.
